Virginia Health Benefit Exchange

The Virginia Health Benefit Exchange, a division of the SCC, operates Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace with the goal to improve health coverage accessibility and affordability for all Virginians. Virginia’s Insurance Marketplace connects eligible Virginians who are not insured by their employer, Medicaid, or Medicare to health insurance options. The Marketplace is Virginia’s own state-based health insurance marketplace where consumers can shop for, compare, and purchase quality and affordable health insurance plans.

Advisory Committee

The HBE Advisory Committee provides guidance to the Commission and the Exchange Director in fulfilling the duties of the Virginia Exchange. Comprised of up to 15 members consisting of a cross-section of stakeholders from around Virginia, requirements are found in §38.2-6503 of the Code of Virginia.    

The Advisory Committee meets several times a year with dates announced at least one week in advance. Publc participation is invited, and meetings are usually webcast. Public comments may be sent at any time to the Advisory Committee at Stakeholderfeedback@scc.virginia.gov.
