Speaker Request and Educational Exhibits
The Bureau of Insurance offers free consumer outreach programs on many insurance topics and participates in educational exhibits. Informative presenters are available to speak with your group or organization on the insurance topic of your choice and will answer general questions you have about insurance. We also have educational materials explaining various lines of insurance and representatives available to answer questions from attendees.

The State Corporation Commission is authorized to examine and investigate insurance institutions under §§ 38.2-1317.1 and 38.2-200 of the Code of Virginia. Regulatory actions are investigations that may be prompted by:
- market analysis (§ 38.2-1317.2)
- consumer complaints
- an insurance company’s failure to follow its rate or form filings
- general business practice violations identified during a market conduct examination
- an insurer’s internal compliance audit
