A Licensed Subscriber Organization provides a group of customers with an opportunity to purchase solar generated electricity and receive renewable energy credits through a subscription to a shared solar facility.

There are two possible paths to become authorized as a Subscriber Organization:

1. Licensed Subscriber Organization – a license granted by the Commission for a Subscriber Organization to own/operate a shared solar facility possessing a nameplate capacity of more than 500 kilowatts.
2. Certified Exempt Subscriber Organization – an exemption certificate granted by the Commission for a Subscriber Organization to own/operate a shared solar facility possessing a nameplate capacity of less than 500 kilowatts.

Subscriber Organizations are licensed by applying to the State Corporation Commission under the Shared Solar Program or the Multi-family Shared Solar Program. To be licensed as a Subscriber Organization, the applicant must satisfy the licensing requirements and adhere to the rules of the program accordingly.

There are 4 steps to become licensed as a Subscriber Organization:

1. Complete business entity registration or authorization as a foreign entity from Office of the Clerk
2. Obtain a license as a Subscriber Organization
3. Register with the utility company
4. Obtain a minimum of three (3) customer subscriptions

Generally, personal identifiable information such as social security or driver's license number, date of birth, or financial institution account number should NOT be included in business entity or Uniform Commercial Code documents submitted to the Office of the Clerk for filing with the Commission. The person who prepares or submits to the Clerk's Office a document for filing is responsible for ensuring that the document contains no such information. The Clerk's Office is authorized to obliterate, without prior notice, personal identifiable data included in a document or refuse to accept for filing a document containing such data. Note that most information contained in documents filed with the Commission is subject to public viewing.

Requests for User Account Information

The Clerk's Office does not make information about an individual's online account available to the public. This information includes the individual's name, address, telephone number, email address, and payment information. Please see our guidance document for additional details.
