RICHMOND — The State Corporation Commission (SCC) has scheduled a joint, local public hearing in March regarding an application by Dominion Virginia Power to build a new overhead, 230-kilovolt (kV) double circuit transmission line and a new switching station in Loudoun County.

Referred to as the Yardley Ridge transmission line project, the SCC is seeking public testimony on this project and another transmission line project proposed by Dominion Virginia Power called the Poland Road project (SCC case number PUE-2015-00053). Both projects involve 230 kV transmission lines in the same area and an amended route is being considered in the Poland Road project that could potentially affect the Yardley Ridge project.

The joint, local public hearing will be held on March 29, 2016, at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of Freedom High School, 25450 Riding Center Drive in Chantilly. A previous local hearing solely in the Yardley Ridge project was held in Leesburg on October 8, 2015. The evidentiary hearing for the Yardley Ridge project will continue in Richmond on June 30, 2016, at 10 a.m. in the Commission’s second floor courtroom located in the Tyler Building at 1300 East Main Street in downtown Richmond.

Any person wishing to comment at these hearings should arrive early and sign in with the SCC bailiff.

Written comments on the proposal must be submitted by May 6, 2016. All correspondence should be sent to the Clerk of the State Corporation Commission, Document Control Center, P.O. Box 2118, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2118, and refer to case number PUE-2015-00054.
